Orange roads --- not quite

The orange brigade is super strong - from lifts, to streets, corners, alley ways and sometimes our very own feet. The big question is how do you tackle spitting - especially the orange blobs that are squirted out every now and then. I can be sure that an Indian would hold the record for distance (from mouth to landing).. practice makes perfect.

Anyways, solutions that I have encountered so far are:

1.Fining - Monitoring in India is not a solution for such things.

After giving it a bit of thought I do have one suggestion - approach schools to organize awareness drives towards spitting. This works by approaching a school in each area of a given pilot city. On any one given day, students in small groups disperse within a small area and talk to people about spitting followed by a petition to the local MLA to have spittoons installed at key locations - the really orange places.

This works in 2 ways - it raises awareness amongst children, helps curb a nuisance. Moreover, adults when reproached by children tend to introspect longer - which is the objective of having children do it.

This is not the end of it. The next step is to monitor the actions of local authorities and their actions in curbing this menace.

Pls pour in your thoughts and suggestions.. but remember that they must be practical (doable)
